Abstract: Two outstanding questions in astronomy are 1) how do solar systems form and evolve and 2) are we alone in the universe? Through the relatively new field of exoplanets we are beginning to answer these questions. However, the majority of discoveries have been limited to planets on short-period orbits around single, main sequence, Sun-like stars. Narrow discoveries breed a narrow understanding. I will outline a path to greater exoplanet diversity, including planet-hosts across the H-R diagram and multi-star systems. I will demonstrate an end-to-end approach that combines theory with data from existing and upcoming observatories. Through this we can gain a broader understanding of the lives of planets and the stars that host them, and forge a path towards habitable worlds.
