George Emmanouilidis

George Emmanouilidis is a PhD student in Chemistry (Astrochemistry) at the University of Virginia, with a background in quantum and computational chemistry and previous research experience in theoretical astrochemistry at Leiden University.

His research interests lie at the intersection of chemistry and astrophysics, with a particular focus on astrochemical modeling, interstellar molecular chemistry, grain-surface reactions, and molecular formation processes in star-forming environments.

He is especially interested in understanding how microscopic chemical processes, including molecular diffusion, adsorption, and desorption on interstellar dust grains, influence the chemical evolution of the interstellar medium and the emergence of molecular complexity in space.

Through his doctoral research, he aims to bridge theoretical chemistry and astrophysical modeling to investigate the chemical processes shaping interstellar environments.
